What blown-in insulation means
Blown-in insulation is loose material placed into a roof space or suitable wall cavity with specialist equipment. It can help cover awkward spaces where fitting pre-cut batts is difficult, but the building still needs to suit the method.
The term describes how the material is installed, not one single product. Ask which material is proposed and why it suits the area being insulated.
Where it may be suitable
Some accessible roof spaces can take blown-in material, and some wall cavities may be suitable for a fill system. The cavity needs to be checked for width, obstructions, moisture and any existing material that could affect the result.
A wall should not be filled without confirming how it is built and whether the cavity is appropriate. An inspection can identify risks before any holes are made or material is added.
Questions to ask before booking
Ask what material will be used, how coverage will be checked and whether preparation or removal is included. Also ask how vents, lights, wiring and other clearances will be protected.
Ash Insulation offers blown insulation options for suitable projects. We check the space first and explain whether blown-in insulation or another method is the better fit.
